Education debt recovery

Course-fee and tuition recovery, without the complaint-to-ASQA spiral.

Independent schools, RTOs, language schools, and CRICOS providers recover unpaid course fees, withdrawal balances, and accommodation arrears with a workflow that respects student-protection rules and doesn't trigger a regulator complaint.

Why traditional recovery breaks for Education & RTOs.

  • ASQA, TEQSA, and state regulators all take complaints about fee conduct seriously.

  • International students (CRICOS) have specific protections — heavy-handed recovery can trigger ESOS Act complaints.

  • Withdrawal-fee disputes need careful handling — they're contractual, not just commercial.

  • Younger debtor base (international students, gap-year domestics) responds badly to legacy-agency tone.

How we do it differently.

Student-cohort-aware tone

Communications calibrated for younger and international debtors — clear, respectful, and not in legalese designed for a 50-year-old commercial defaulter.

CRICOS-aware escalation

Recovery against international students respects ESOS Act protections. We don't escalate where the student-protection framework would block it.

Contingency on small balances

Withdrawal fees and partial-term debts are usually $500-$3,000. Materially-below-market contingency makes them economic.

Customer voice

What finance teams tell us

Switching off our old agency saved us roughly 28% on every recovered dollar in the first quarter — and I stopped getting angry-customer phone calls forwarded to me.

Sarah K. CFO, mid-size plumbing wholesaler

Our debtors used to ghost a 1300 number. Now they pay through a portal in their pyjamas at 11pm. Recovery rate's up, calls volume is down, and the tone of the whole thing feels less like a fight.

Daniel R. Head of Finance, regional ISP

The hardship workflow alone justified the switch. We had two genuinely struggling customers this quarter and our previous agency would have just kept hammering. We kept the relationship.

Jenna T. Operations Manager, allied-health clinic group

Frequently asked questions

Are you compliant with the ESOS Act for CRICOS student debts?
Recovery activity respects ESOS Act student-protection provisions. We don't pursue debts the Act protects against, and we route compliance-flagged matters back to your compliance team.
Can you recover from a student who has returned to their home country?
Within the limits of jurisdictional reach. Initial recovery via the portal works internationally; legal-stage escalation generally doesn't, and we're upfront about that.
How does this work for ELICOS and short-course providers?
Same flow. Course duration doesn't change the recovery economics — withdrawal-rule alignment and student-protection awareness are the consistent constraints.
