Trade debt recovery

Builder, sparkie, plumber — get paid for finished work.

Why traditional recovery breaks for Trades & Construction.

  • Builders go quiet at month-end and stay quiet. Phone-call recovery doesn't move them.

  • Security of Payment Act timeframes are tight — miss a date and you lose the statutory debt.

  • Subbies have thin margins. A 30% commission on a recovered invoice is the profit gone.

  • Disputed variations vs unpaid invoice — agencies can't tell the difference and chase the wrong amount.

How we do it differently.

SOP-Act aware timing

Our recovery sequence respects state Security of Payment Act notice timeframes so a payment claim's statutory status isn't lost.

Variation vs invoice routing

Disputed variations route back to you for review. Undisputed invoices keep moving. Fewer adjudication losses.

Contingency at trade margins

Materially under 25-30% trade-collections agency rates. The recovery is actually worth chasing.

Customer voice

What finance teams tell us

Switching off our old agency saved us roughly 28% on every recovered dollar in the first quarter — and I stopped getting angry-customer phone calls forwarded to me.

Sarah K. CFO, mid-size plumbing wholesaler

Our debtors used to ghost a 1300 number. Now they pay through a portal in their pyjamas at 11pm. Recovery rate's up, calls volume is down, and the tone of the whole thing feels less like a fight.

Daniel R. Head of Finance, regional ISP

The hardship workflow alone justified the switch. We had two genuinely struggling customers this quarter and our previous agency would have just kept hammering. We kept the relationship.

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle Security of Payment Act payment claims?
We handle the recovery sequence in alignment with SOP Act timing — initial demand, follow-up, escalation. Adjudication itself stays with your solicitor; we provide the documented prior-recovery record that supports the claim.
Can you handle multi-tier disputes (subbie -> builder -> head contractor)?
Yes. We pursue the named debtor only — typically the entity that signed the purchase order or contract. We don't pursue head contractors for sub-tier debts unless that's contractually established.
What about head contractors who go into administration?
We pause recovery and route you to the administrator. Pre-administration debts may still be partially recoverable — we'll guide you through the proof-of-debt process.
